Diary 15.03.10

There is something about this season

This season is almost at its end but it did not even feel like it was winter at all! I have not been updating my blog for a long time. Here are some news about the last competitions and happenings. My snowboard season started quite well with my win in La Clusaz. Unfortunately Chamonix, Hochfügen and even Kirkwood did not work out for me as I wanted.

The contest face

The organizers of the FWT had to move the FWT Chamonix event site to the Italian side of Mont Blanc on the north face of Courmayeur's Mont Fortin, because of very poor snow conditions. When I dropped in to the face, I knew that the conditions were constantly changing and that my line was not an easy choice. Unfortunately some strong sluff took me and my concentration down the coloir. Bad luck...

Hochfügen was the next stop on the womens FWT, and it also suffered from a lack of snow. Nevertheless, I was surprised at how good the conditions were on the face, as well as surprised with the number of line options, features, and quality of the snow. The challenging snow conditions made me choose an easier line, including several jumps. After a fluent start, I missed the soft spot for my landing and crashed on my second cliff. But in the end I was really happy with my line, especially with me trying to include as many jumps as possible. ;)

After the 3rd FWT stop, I packed my gear up and traveled to the ISPO in Munich, the largest sporting goods trade show in the world. On Monday, the 7th of February, riders, media, sponsors, and event partners gathered at Dakine’s stand for a Freeride World Tour presentation and its objectives. Just after 2 days at the ISPO, I traveled to London with the Roxy team to appear at the red carpet premier for the Chalet Girl  movie premiere. The movie is about “conquering your fears and enjoying the ride"…

In april 2010 almost the whole Roxy team (Kjersti, Basa, Enni, Silje, Margot, Tania and me) met up at Kaunertal clacier (Austria) to stunt double for the new romantic snowboard comedy which is now launching across Europe. It has been a great pleasure to be involved in such a big film production, meeting the main actors and have a deeper insight in their "acting world". Here are some pictures from the premiere...

My season went on with participating in the Montafon Freeride Festival in Austria. There was not a lot of snow in the face either, but it was such a fun event with good vibes. My run worked out pretty well that time and I ended up 2nd on the podium.
